Amal Qattan is an associate in the Abu Dhabi office of Kalbian Hagerty. Amal specializes in handling litigation in U.A.E. courts and regulatory and compliance issues involving U.A.E. administrative agencies and free zones.
Amal has handled complex civil and commercial litigation matters and labor disputes by appearing on behalf of clients in U.A.E. court proceedings. Recently, Amal successfully defended a large Chinese company against a seven figure labor claim filed by a former executive.
Amal also has experience in arbitration matters. In 2015, she was part of the team at Kalbian Hagerty that successfully defended a major regional contractor in an ICC arbitration in Abu Dhabi. In addition, Amal was instrumental in providing analysis on U.A.E. Civil and Commercial codes and their application to the dispute.
Amal has considerable experience with U.A.E. intellectual property rights. She has represented clients in the defense of misappropriated trademarks in the U.A.E. and registered the first Finnish curriculum nursery in the U.A.E.
Amal completed the Lawyer Training Program and U.A.E. license exam provided by the UAE Institute of Training and Judicial Studies and was awarded an “Excellent” degree in 2016.
Amal graduated at the top of her law class at the United Arab Emirates University Law College, U.A.E. in 2013. She was hand selected by the Law Faculty to participate in the Willem C. Vis Moot Commercial Arbitration competition for two consecutive years, where she was a member of the winning team for the best brief in the regional Willem C. Vis Moot competition.
